O2 Power Inks Deal to Supply 100 MW Renewable Energy to East Central Railways
O2 Power has signed a PPA with East Central Railways to supply 100 MW of clean energy from its installed base spread across Rajasthan, Gujarat and Karnataka.
Gurugram-based renewable energy platform O2 Power announced on Monday that it has signed a power purchase agreement with East Central Railways to supply 100 MW of clean energy.
According to the statement, ECR will source the power from O2 Power’s installed capacity of 360 MW, spread across Rajasthan, Gujarat and Karnataka.
The statement further said that the renewable energy supplied will directly power ECR’s operations, reducing its carbon footprint and enhancing energy sustainability.
The agreement will help achieve ECR’s decarbonization initiatives and accelerate India’s commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2070.
“This PPA with ECR is a significant step in enabling Indian Railways to transition to renewable energy. At O2 Power, we are committed to supporting this transformative journey by delivering round-the-clock clean energy to the grid,” said O2 Power CEO Parag Sharma in a statement.
O2 Power’s renewable energy projects have a total portfolio of 6GW+ across multiple states.
According to media reports, Sekura Energy, the energy platform owned by Edelweiss Alternatives, acquired in September 350-MW operational assets of O2 Power worth ₹2,000 crore developed for Rewa Ultra Mega Solar in Madhya Pradesh.
O2 Power is a renewable energy platform in India established in 2020 by Singapore-based investment company Temasek and Stockholm-based investment firm EQT Infrastructure. The company develops, constructs and operates renewable energy projects, including solar and wind power.
