NTPC Ltd., India’s largest integrated power utility, has been awarded the Forward Faster Sustainability Award 2025 in the Water Resilience category, recognizing its efforts in sustainable water management and conservation.

The award was presented at a ceremony organized by the UN Global Compact Network India in Chennai. NTPC Executive Director Harekrushna Dash and Assistant General Manager K. Karthikeyan received the award on behalf of the company.

The Forward Faster Sustainability Awards honor organizations in India that demonstrate sustainability and corporate responsibility leadership, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

NTPC’s recognition underscores its commitment to environmental stewardship and efficient resource utilization in the power sector.

The company has adopted a “reduce, reuse & recycle” approach to water management, implementing advanced wastewater treatment plants and achieving full sweet water self-sufficiency at Ratnagiri Gas and Power Pvt. Ltd.

The company also focuses on restoring local water bodies, enhancing community access to clean water and promoting conservation awareness.

With an installed capacity exceeding 77 gigawatts and 29.5 GW under construction, including 9.6 GW of renewable energy, NTPC contributes nearly a quarter of India’s power supply.

It aims to achieve 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032 while expanding into emerging sectors such as e-mobility, battery storage, waste-to-energy, nuclear power and green hydrogen.

NTPC continues to integrate sustainability into its operations as it strives to balance energy demands with environmental responsibility.
