Finnish renewable fuels producer Neste and German logistics firm DB Schenker said on Wednesday they expanded their partnership to scale Neste MY Renewable Diesel in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region, aiming to cut transport-related carbon emissions.

The collaboration follows a three-month trial between December 2024 and February 2025, during which DB Schenker used Neste’s renewable diesel to power its land transport fleet in Singapore — marking the fuel’s debut in the city-state’s road logistics sector.

Neste MY Renewable Diesel, made entirely from renewable raw materials, is a direct replacement for fossil diesel without requiring modifications to existing diesel engines or fuel infrastructure.

Renewable diesel debuts in Singapore logistics

“The use of Neste MY Renewable Diesel in Singapore is a milestone for both companies,” said Ee Pin Lee, head of commercial, APAC, Renewable Products at Neste. “This demonstrates the crucial role renewable diesel can play in decarbonizing logistics operations.”

According to the National Climate Change Secretariat, land transport accounts for about 15 percent of Singapore’s carbon emissions.

Neste says its renewable diesel can reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 90 percent compared to fossil diesel, depending on the feedstock and regulatory methodology used.

DB Schenker targets wider adoption across Asia-Pacific

DB Schenker said it plans to extend the use of renewable diesel in its regional land transport operations as part of its broader decarbonization strategy.

“DB Schenker is committed to conducting its business with the smallest possible ecological footprint,” said Christoph Matthes, senior vice president and head of land transport in APAC. “We hope to transform our whole industry with the use of renewable diesel as a viable solution.”

The two companies have previously partnered in Finland, where DB Schenker has adopted Neste MY Renewable Diesel in light distribution vehicles and piloted high-power charging for heavy-duty electric trucks.

Neste operates a major renewable fuels refinery in Singapore, which serves as a hub for supplying sustainable fuels across the region.
