India’s Social Justice Ministry Unveils New Training for Public Servants
India launches citizen-focused training program to enhance public service skills and strengthen governance efficiency.
India’s Department of Social Justice and Empowerment on Wednesday inaugurated the first batch of the Rashtriya Karmayogi Jan Seva Programme, an initiative designed to enhance the citizen-centric approach of government officials.
Program Objectives
The program, developed by the Capacity Building Commission, aims to instill a stronger sense of “Seva Bhav” – or the spirit of service – in public servants and foster solution-oriented, compassionate governance, the ministry said in a statement.
The training will run from Mar. 5-11 at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi and consist of four interactive sessions focusing on teamwork, problem-solving, and service-oriented narratives.
“Many of us enter public service with a passion to make a difference. However, over time, daily routines and limited citizen interaction can make us lose sight of that purpose,” Amit Yadav, secretary of DoSJE, said at the inauguration. “This program serves as a reminder of why we serve – to bring meaningful change in people’s lives.”
Yadav stressed the importance of personal development and leadership in government roles, emphasizing that effective governance hinges on how officials engage with the public and address concerns.
Training Sessions and Key Discussions
Senior officials, including DoSJE Director Kajal Singh and Deputy Secretary Puspendra Singh, are conducting training sessions, with support from the Capacity Building Commission’s programme coordinator, Shipra Singh.
Attendees explored key themes such as policy formulation, grievance redressal, and legal frameworks, with discussions incorporating insights from national welfare initiatives and campaigns.
Participants were encouraged to integrate these learnings into their daily responsibilities, aligning with the program’s broader goal of strengthening India’s social justice ecosystem.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Indian government to modernize and enhance administrative capacity, ensuring that civil servants remain engaged and committed to citizen welfare.
