Mercedes-Benz unveiled on Monday a comprehensive sustainability strategy encompassing six key areas: environment & climate, resources & circularity, human rights, traffic safety, digital trust and people.

This multi-faceted approach underscores the automaker’s commitment to a sustainable future, aligning with its ESG principles.

“Sustainability has been a fundamental component of the Mercedes-Benz Group’s corporate activities for many years,” said Renata Jungo Brüngger, board member for integrity, governance & sustainability at Mercedes-Benz in a statement.

Environment & Climate

Mercedes-Benz aims to achieve net-zero emissions for its entire vehicle fleet by 2039. The company will realize this through electrification, decarbonization of the supply chain and production, and increased use of recycled materials. The company is investing heavily in electric vehicle technology, with the upcoming MMA platform set to launch in 2025.

Resources & Circularity

To reduce resource consumption, Mercedes-Benz is focusing on closing material loops and increasing the use of recycled materials. The automaker is adopting a “Design for Environment” approach, considering the recyclability of materials from the initial design stage.
