Bengaluru-based Ather Energy, a leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer, announced on Wednesday a partnership with Google to improve the accessibility of its fast-charging stations on a real-time basis.

According to a company statement, the collaboration will allow electric two-wheelers to find “Ather Grid” fast chargers on Google, offering complete live status updates of the chargers.

However, these E2Ws must be equipped with Light Electric Combined Charging System, a standardized charging connector specifically designed for electric two-wheelers in India.

Approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards, LECCS ensures interoperability between E2Ws and charging stations, simplifying the charging process for the users.

The new standard was launched last year in a significant move to pave the way for wider adoption of electric vehicles in the country.

The company further said 1,973 fast chargers are already available to the public as of March 30.

Last week, the E2W manufacturer announced its plans to expand its footprints into Sri Lanka following its entry into Nepal in November 2023.

The company said the expansion will be facilitated through a partnership with Evolution Auto, a joint venture between Sensei Capital Partners, Atman Group, and Sino Lanka.
