Mahindra & Mahindra’s newly launched electric sports utility vehicles, the XEV 9e and BE 6, have amassed bookings worth ₹8,472 crore ($1 billion) at ex-showroom prices on their first day, signaling robust demand for premium EVs in India.

According to a press statement, the automaker secured 30,179 bookings across both models, a figure significant against India’s total electric passenger vehicle sales of around 100,000 units in 2024.

The statement added that XEV 9e accounted for 56 percent of the bookings, while the BE 6 comprised 44 percent.

Mahindra’s high-end Pack Three variant, equipped with a 79 kilowatt-hours battery, saw the strongest demand, accounting for 73 percent of total bookings.

The company attributed the response to rising consumer interest in luxury EVs and confidence in its UNLIMIT India vision, which aims to deliver world-class electric vehicles.

Expanding the EV Segment

“The response underscores a growing appetite for high-performance electric SUVs in India, reinforcing Mahindra’s position in the segment,” the company said.

The XEV 9e and BE 6, unveiled in November 2024, are part of Mahindra’s push to expand its EV lineup as competition heats up in India’s growing electric vehicle market.

Deliveries will begin in a phased manner, starting with the top-tier Pack Three variant in mid-March 2025 and continuing with lower-tier versions through August.

Bookings remain open at select Mahindra dealerships and online, and customers will receive delivery timelines within the next three weeks, the company added.
