Tata Motors on Wednesday announced that it has partnered with Delta Electronics India and Thunderplus Solutions to set up charging infrastructure for its range of electric commercial vehicles.

According to a company press note, the automobile manufacturer plans to set up 250 new fast-charging stations across 50 cities in India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Kochi.

These new charging stations will significantly increase the existing network of 540 commercial vehicle charging points.

The statement added that while Delta Electronics will supply the necessary hardware, Thunderplus Solutions will install and operate it.

Tata Motors will recommend optional locations and the nearest dealerships to set up these fast-charging points, depending on the evolving commercial EV scenario.

Currently, e-commerce companies and courier service providers, among other industries, have been increasing the adoption of commercial EVs for last-mile deliveries.

“Our endeavor is to make emission-free cargo transportation easily accessible. Expanding the charging infrastructure on high-use routes will encourage more customers to opt for electric commercial vehicles,” said Vinay Pathak, vice president of Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles.

He added that installing fast chargers at their dealerships makes it convenient for customers to gain access to a familiar location with a reliable charging facility.

Currently, Tata Motors offers Ace EVs for last-mile deliveries and has a nationwide network of over 150 EV service centers.

Its network has an advanced battery management system, fleet Edge telematics system and robust aggregates for best-in-class uptime.
